Privacy policy
Last updated:
This policy covers the Tilt Labyrinth game for Android and its web version, made by TheGBiv ("we", "us"). It is written in plain language and describes what the game actually does. If anything is unclear, email support.dev.gbiv@gmail.com.
The short version
- There are no accounts and no sign-in. We don't use analytics or crash reporting.
- We run no server, and we receive no personal data from the game.
- Your progress and settings are saved only on your device.
- On Android the game shows ads from Google AdMob. Google collects some device data to show them. Players under 13, or who haven't answered the age question, only get child-safe ads that are not personalized and don't use the advertising ID.
- The Remove ads purchase is handled by Google Play. The game only learns whether you own it.
What we don't collect
- No accounts, no sign-in, no names, email addresses or contacts.
- No analytics, no crash reporting, no tracking of what you do in the game.
- No location, camera, microphone, photos or files. The game does not ask for those permissions.
- We have no server. Nothing the game saves is ever sent to us.
The game reads your phone's motion sensor (accelerometer) so that tilting the phone rolls the marbles. Those readings are used instantly to move the marbles and are never saved or sent anywhere.
What is saved on your device
The game saves the following in the app's private storage on your device (on the web, in your browser's storage). It never leaves the device, and we can't see it:
- Your progress: the levels you have unlocked, your stars and your best times.
- Daily Challenge results: your daily stars and your streaks.
- Settings: sound, vibration, music and tilt sensitivity.
- The board theme you picked and the themes you have unlocked.
- Whether you own Remove ads (Android only).
- Your age band (Android only): the game asks once for the year you were born and keeps only the result, "under 13" or "13 or over". The birth year itself is never saved and never sent anywhere.
- Your ad consent choices, where they are asked for (saved by Google's consent tool, see below).
Ads (Google AdMob, Android only)
The Android game is free and shows a few ads: an optional video you can choose to watch to continue a failed level, and an occasional full-screen ad between levels. Ads are served by Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC. Every ad the game requests is limited to content rated G (suitable for all ages).
What Google collects to show ads
When the game asks for an ad, Google's ads software in the app collects and sends to Google:
- the device's advertising ID (only for players 13 or over, see below);
- the IP address, which can show your approximate location (such as the city or country);
- device and app information, such as the phone model, Android version, language, screen size, app version and app performance (such as how long the app took to start);
- ad interactions, such as which ads were shown and whether they were tapped or watched to the end.
Google uses this to serve ads, to measure them (for example, counting views) and to prevent fraud and abuse. We don't receive this data; we only see totals in AdMob, such as how many ads were shown. Google's handling of it is covered by the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Under 13, or age not answered
On first launch the game asks what year you were born. If you are under 13, or if the question hasn't been answered, every ad request is marked child-directed. That means:
- no personalized ads (no ads based on your interests or on what you did in other apps);
- the advertising ID is not used;
- only ads rated G;
- no consent form is shown, because no personalized advertising happens.
13 or over
Players 13 or over get Google's normal ads, still rated G. Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland), Google's consent form is shown before the first ad and ads are personalized only if you agree. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy options (this row only appears where the consent form applies). Elsewhere, ads may be personalized using the advertising ID.
On Android you can also reset or delete your advertising ID, or turn off ad personalization, in your phone's Settings → Privacy → Ads (on some phones, Settings → Google → Ads).
If you buy Remove ads, the game stops showing between-level ads and the Continue no longer needs a video.
Purchases (Google Play Billing)
Remove ads is a one-time purchase made through Google Play. Google processes the payment under its own terms and the Google Payments Privacy Notice. We never see your card or payment details. The app only learns whether Remove ads is owned on your Google account, so it can switch the ads off and restore the purchase after a reinstall.
Children
Tilt Labyrinth is made for all ages, including children. For children the game works the same, with one difference: for players under 13 (or anyone who hasn't answered the age question) ads are child-directed, as described in Under 13, or age not answered. No personalized ads, no advertising ID, only G-rated ads.
We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children: the game has no accounts and sends nothing to us. The age question keeps only "under 13" or "13 or over" on the device. Parents and guardians can contact us at support.dev.gbiv@gmail.com with any question, and can remove everything the game saved by clearing the app's data or uninstalling it.
The web version
The version that runs in a web browser has no ads and no purchases. Your progress and settings are stored only in your browser's storage for the game and stay on your computer. Clearing your browser's site data deletes them.
Android permissions
These are all the permissions in the Android app. Most are added by Google's ads and billing software. None of them gives access to your files, photos, contacts, location, camera or microphone.
android.permission.INTERNET- Load ads and talk to Google Play for the purchase. The game itself plays offline.
android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE- Lets the ads software check whether the phone is online before asking for an ad.
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID- Lets the ads software read the advertising ID, for players 13 or over only (see Ads).
android.permission.ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_IDandroid.permission.ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTIONandroid.permission.ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS- Android's Privacy Sandbox ad features, used by Google's ads software to measure and choose ads where Android supports them. You can turn them off in your phone's ad privacy settings.
com.android.vending.BILLING- Buy and restore Remove ads through Google Play.
android.permission.WAKE_LOCKandroid.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE- Added by Google's libraries so short background tasks (such as sending ad events) can finish. No extra data.
com.holysmokes.tiltlabyrinth.DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION- An Android system-library safeguard that keeps the app's internal messages private to the app. No data.
What's inside the app
For full transparency, these are the software packages the app is built with and what each one means for your data.
google_mobile_ads- Google AdMob, Android only. Collects the data described in Ads, including Google's consent tool.
in_app_purchasein_app_purchase_android- Google Play Billing, Android only. See Purchases.
shared_preferences- Saves progress and settings on the device only. See What is saved on your device.
url_launcher- Opens this website in your browser from Settings. Sends nothing by itself.
sensors_plus- Reads the motion sensor to tilt the board. Never saved or sent.
wakelock_plus- Keeps the screen on while you play. No data.
flutterflameflame_forge2dflame_audioflutter_riverpodriverpod_annotationgo_router- The app framework, game engine, physics, sound, app state and screens. They run on the device and collect no data.
flutter_testriverpod_generatorbuild_runnerflutter_lintsflutter_launcher_iconsflutter_native_splash- Developer tools for testing and building. They are not part of the installed app.
How long data is kept, and deleting it
What the game saves on your device stays until you delete it: clear the app's data (Android Settings → Apps → Tilt Labyrinth → Storage → Clear data) or uninstall the game. On the web, clear the site data in your browser. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to delete.
Google keeps the ads and payment data it collects under its own policies linked above. Your Remove ads purchase stays on your Google account so it can be restored.
Changes to this policy
If the game starts handling data differently, we will update this page first and change the "Last updated" date at the top.
